CHARACTER AND ENVIRONMENT UPDATES

We're on the last leg of our final sprint! Progress is starting to wrap up and it's time to start assembling all the updated art assets in the final Unreal file. We've been prioritizing the implementation of the art assets in order to give the tech team time to fix any last minute bugs or glitches and package the file for finals! This is what we've been up to lately...

  • Finishing textures/materials for our characters

  • Outsourced riggers have made final edits and changes to the rigs in order to be animated

  • Animators will be finalizing our new animations with the updated character models

  • Set dressing the environments with old and new assets

  • Posing the character models for our statues that will be populating our forest environment for the puzzles

  • Updating the lighting in Unreal for our different, new and improved environments

Hope you're looking forward to seeing all of our new character models in engine and in the cinematics by the end of this sprint! Seeing everything come together in the context of the game is such an exciting experience that we want to share with everybody who's shown an interest in our project.

To show you what we've done, here are some screenshots of our characters, statues, and new environments:

Our character artists were Alyson Adams, Kai Brockman, Lindsay Schwartz, and Alex Winslow.

All of our statues were posed in ZBrush (by me, Kai Brockman). We were able to use the Rapunzel character model again for these statues, but the Dara and Witch statues were created for this purpose by Lindsay Schwartz (Dara) and Alyson Adams (the Witch).

As we draw closer to the end of our time here at SCAD, looking back we have all learned a great deal from this experience. We hope you are looking forward to the seeing the fruits of our labor as much as we are to share it with you!
